The Voxmobile - the ultimate musical motor?

VoxmobileThe Electric Prunes famously recorded an ad for Vox, marvelling at what happened 'when you push that Vox wah-wah pedal down'... You can even make your gee-tar sound like a see-tar, apparently. But if you push this Vox pedal down you'll shoot forwards pretty quickly: this monster machine, created in '67 by master custom car-builder George Barris, is powered by a Ford V8 and it's said to be capable of 175mph.

And yes, those are giant guitars down the side; though they're purely decorative, the Voxmobile also incorporates a Vox Super Continental organ in its rear deck, 32 guitar inputs and three Vox Beatle amps, most of which are still working properly, says its owner, who's put it up for auction on eBay.

The Voxmobile was designed as a promotional vehicle - effectively an eye-catching giant mobile amp to showcase Vox's guitars and products - and it was also to feature in the cult movie Psych-Out, though in the end its scenes were cut. It's been in storage for 40 years and is currently in Denver, Colorado, needing some restoration to its electrics.

Yours for $175,000 - but what happened to the (real) guitars and Beatle head originally fitted in the Voxmobile?
