Rescue case

‘I like hospital cases’, says Sara Jane, and this ‘70s Jedson 12-string (50p from a jumble sale) has certainly been in the wars. A previous owner put his foot through the back, apparently, and the neck’s been reglued. It’s too fragile to take 12 strings - SJ strings six from the central pegs - but nonetheless ‘it’s got amazing tone and more volume than a normal six-string because of its big fat body’, she explains. ‘I could get rid of all my other instruments but I’d have to keep this one’.
